Orangery Extension Receives Planning – Rugby, Warwickshire
Planning permission has been granted by Rugby Borough Council for a proposed orangery extension near Rugby. The project is currently being tendered with work planned to start within a month.
Historically orangeries were most popular between the 16th and 17th century with their main purpose being to winter citrus fruits and exotic plants.
Modern orangeries are a great way to create open plan living with a difference. They can provide a well-proportioned, beautiful and versatile space and the glazed roof lanterns bathe the interior with sunlight by day and allow wonderful views of the stars by night.
The home owners wished to extend and modernise their interior space whilst replacing an existing 1970’s extension which did not fit in well with the historic house. The proposed orangery extension compliments the house and nearby listed church.

This extension will provide a well-proportioned, beautiful and versatile open plan space increasing the size of the kitchen, dining, and living areas. The large amount of glazing and bi-folding doors allow for wonderful views and open out into a private garden.
